Propuesta 30- TRATA DE PERSONAS. PENAS.

Aumentará impuestos para personas con ganancias anuales de más de $250,000 por 7 años. Adicionalmente, los impuestos sobre ventas aumentarán por ¼ centavo por 4 años. Estos fondos se utilizarán para financiar las escuelas públicas K-12.

Propuesta 31- PRESUPUESTO ESTATAL. GOBIERNOS ESTATAL Y LOCALES.

Establecerá un ciclo de dos años para el presupuesto del estado. Prohibirá que la Legislatura cree gastos de más de $25 millones. Permite al gobernador efectuar recortes durante emergencias fiscales. Permite a los gobiernos locales que modifiquen la manera en que se les apliquen las de los programas financiados por el estado.

Propuesta 32- CONTRIBUCIONES POLÌTICAS POR DEDUCCIONES DE NÒMINA.

Prohibirá que los sindicatos, corporaciones, y contratistas usen dinero deducido de nómina de sueldos de sus empleados para financiar fines políticos.

Propuesta 33- COMPAÑÌAS DE SEGURO DE AUTOMÒVILES.

Permitirá que las compañías de seguros ajusten sus precios sobre la base de seguro anterior.

Propuesta 34- PENA DE MUERTE.

Terminará la pena de muerte para personas condenadas por asesinato y la reemplazará con encarcelamiento de por vida.

Propuesta 35- TRATAS DE PERSONAS. PENAS.

Aumenta las penas por el crimen de trata de personas. Requiere que las personas condenadas de trata de personas se inscriben como infractor sexual. 

Propuesta 36- LEY DE LOS TRES STRIKES.

Revisa la ley para imponer la cadena perpetua sólo cuando una nueva felonía es grave o violenta. Podrá autorizar una nueva sentencia si la convicción tercer strike no es seria o violenta. 

Propuesta 37- ALIMENTOS GENÈTICAMENTE MODIFICADOS.

Requiere etiquetado de los alimentos que se venden a los consumidores hechos de plantas o animales con material genético modificado en maneras específicas. Prohíbe la comercialización de tales alimentos como “natural”, con exepciones.

Propuesta 38- IMPUESTO PARA FONDOS DE EDUCACIÓN Y PROGRAMAS DE PRIMERA INFANCIA

Aumenta los impuestos sobre los ingresos de más de $ 7,346 por 12 años. Los ingresos van a escuelas K-12 y programas de primera infancia, y durante cuatro años para pagar la deuda estatal.

Propuesta 39- TRATO DE IMPUESTOS PARA EMPRESAS MULTIESTATALES

Exige a las empresas multiestatales que pagen impuestos en función de sus ventas en California. Dedica ingresos por 5 años a proyectos de energia eficiente. 

Propuesta 40- REDISTRITACIÓN.

Un voto “Sí” aprueba y un voto “No” rechaza nuevos distritos del Senado del Estado elaborados por la Comisión de Redistribución de los ciudadanos.

Proposition 30- TEMPORARY TAXES TO FUND EDUCATION.

A proposed personal income tax increase on annual earnings of $250,000 or more for duration of 7 years. Additionally, the state sale’s tax will increase by ¼ cents for a duration of 4 years. The revenues acquired from these increases will be used to fund California public schools.

Proposition 31- STATE BUDGET. STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

Will establish a 2-year state budget cycle and prohibit the state legislature from making expenditures exceeding $25 million. Additionally, the Governor will have the power to cut the budget during declared fiscal emergencies and local governments can decide how state funded programs apply to them.

Proposition 32- POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS BY PAYROLL DEDUCTION.

Will prohibit unions, corporations, and government contractors from using pay-roll deducted funds for political purposes such as funding candidates or candidate controlled committees.

Proposition 33- AUTO INSURANCE. PRICES BASED ON DRIVER’S HISTORY OF COVERAGE.

Will allow insurance companies to give discounts and set prices based on drivers’ histories of prior insurance coverage.

Proposition 34- DEATH PENALTY.

Will end the death penalty in California for persons found guilty or murder and replaces it with life in prison.

Proposition 35- HUMAN TRAFFICKING. PENALTIES.

Will increase criminal penalties for human trafficking and will require persons convicted of human trafficking to register as sex offenders.

Proposition 36- THREE STRIKES LAW. REPEAT FELONY OFFENDER. PENALTIES.

Revises law to impose life sentence only when a new felony conviction is serious or violent. May authorize re-sentencing if third strike conviction was not serious or violent.

Proposition 37- GENETICALLY ENGINEERED FOODS. LABELING INITIATIVE STATUTE. 

Requires labeling of food sold to consumers made from plants or animals with genetic material changed in specified ways. Prohibits marketing such food, or other processed food, as “natural”. Provides exemptions. 

Proposition 38- TAX TO FUND EDUCATION AND EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS.

Increases taxes on earnings over $7,346 using a sliding scale, for 12 years. Revenues go to K-12 schools and early childhood programs, and for four years for repaying state debt. Fiscal Impact: Increased state tax revenues for 12 years, roughly $10 billion annually, tending to grow over time.

Proposition 39 TAX TREATMENT FOR MULTISTATE BUSINESSES. CLEAN ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY FUNDING.

Requires multistate businesses to pay income taxes based on their sales in California. Dedicates revenues for 5 years to energy efficiency projects.

Proposition 40 REDISTRICTING. STATE SENATE DISTRICTS. REFERENDUM.

A “Yes” vote approves and a “No” vote rejects, new State Senate districts drawn by the Citizens Redistricting Commission. Fiscal Impact: A “Yes” vote would have no fiscal impact a “No” vote would result in a one-time cost of about $1 million to state and counties.

A friendly reminder that election day is drawing near and as such so is the last day to register, October 22nd. The great thing is that these days registering is simple (Thanks to awesome organizations like “Rock the Vote”) and you can do it online now! If you haven’t registered yet don’t put it off just click the banner below and you’ll be on your way. If you need any help don’t hesitate to message us your questions.

People of East LA and surrounding areas!

You are invited to join the many others who will attend this exciting event taking place on Saturday, September 8, 2012 

The Bicycle Ride is open to the entire family!

The Event is FREE!

There will be two routes open for bike riders.

The Family Bicycle Ride (1.8 miles): Begins at the East LA Civic Center; heads north on Mednik Ave; turns left on First Street; turns right on Ford Blvd; right on Mednik Avenue; and returns to East LA Civic Center.

ELA Bicycle Ride (4.3 miles): Begins at the East LA Civic Center; heads north on Mednik Ave;  turns left on First Street; right on Indiana Street; right on Cesar Chavez Ave; right on Mednik Ave; and returns to East LA Civic Center

Both rides begin at 10:00 AM!

After the event, stay for the ELA ArtsFest featuring bicycle clinic, an ArtWalk, live music and the Taste of East L.A.! Bicycle valet will be available the entire day.
